Total Recall (2012)

The latest remake starring Colin Farrell.
Opens June 1st.

Take the old story and slap a coat of Matrix paint on it, and here we have a brand new movie for 2012. I have to admit I will watch this and probably enjoy the hell out of it, even though I have fond memories of the first one.
What a difference 20 years or so makes, huh?

The Cabin In The Woods

They have definitely kept us waiting for this often-delayed new flick produced by Joss Whedon. I have to say it looks pretty interesting, hopefully they can manage to do some new things with this old premise….
What do you guys think?

Looks good, right?
Leave some comments on the chalkboard!
Opens April 13th in theaters.

Apartment 143 (Emergo)

So yeah, this one looks pretty freaking scary, even though it is not exactly the most original premise on the beach…

Although the film is set in the US, with an English-speaking cast, it was filmed in Barcelona, Spain using every kind of camera available. Looks pretty wild!

Releasing April 27th  On Demand, with a very limited theatrical run planned for June 1st.

Would You Rather

In all honesty, I would probably rather NOT see this one…

Although my man Jeffrey Combs adds some credibility to this mess, it just doesn’t look like a lot of fun, does it?
Oh well, gotta watch them all!
Do that homework!

Currently no US release date.

Piranha 3DD

I know it was goofy, but I really loved Piranha 3D. In the dark theater with the glasses, it really worked at taking away the real world for an hour and a half. And isn’t that what we go to the movies for?

I know a lot of people who hate the idea of this movie, but I, for one, cant wait. It looks like more silly over-the-top fun. What do you guys think?
Also, it does have David Hasselhoff in it…that has to count for something!

Opens June 1st.

Prometheus (2012)

In case you don’t know, Prometheus is the upcoming “prequel” to the Alien films, directed by the one and only Ridley Scott.

The film-makers are being deliberately vague about what exactly the connections are between this new film and the original series we all know and love.

In fact, it seems that the case might be that this film is about the Weyland company and their production of realistic “synthetic humans”.

Check out this new featurette with some cool new footage and everyone talking about how great Ridley Scott is.

The ties between this and the original Alien films seem to be slight, but that could simply be the film-makers wanting to keep some surprises for the theater, for once.

I, for one, can’t wait for this one this summer. Looking forward to some big-budget sci-fi horror, directed by a master!

What do you guys think?

Releasing June 8, 2012.

Absentia (2011)

I have been looking forward to this one for a while now. It looks to have a great creepy style and intense story. All signs point to this one being a keeper!
I will be watching soon, look for a full review!

Just released on DVD and Blu-Ray this week.

Dark Shadows 2012 (Updated)

Dark Shadows

A new adaptation of an old TV show starring Johnny Depp, directed by Tim Burton. I used to be a huge fan of Tim Burton, (in fact my childhood wouldn’t be the same without Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands) but it has been a long time since I have really enjoyed one of his films. When I heard about this one, I was hoping for an epic gothic horror flick. Instead, what we are getting is this…

I know there are a lot of huge fans of the old show that are not going to be into this. I was never a huge fan, but it really doesn’t seem to have much in common with the source material. To be honest, I don’t see much in this trailer that inspires me to see this one. What do you kiddies think?

Another very similar trailer has now been released, this one featuring Alice Cooper, if that makes a difference to anyone…

Here is a look at the just-released trailer for ParaNorman, the new 3D stop-motion animated flick coming to us from the guys who did such a great job with Coraline.

Here is the official synopsis :
In “ParaNorman,” a small town comes under siege by zombies. Who can it call? Only misunderstood local boy Norman (voiced by Kodi Smit-McPhee), who is able to speak with the dead. In addition to the zombies, he’ll have to take on ghosts, witches and, worst, of all, grown-ups, to save his town from a centuries-old curse. But this young ghoul whisperer may find his paranormal activities pushed to their otherworldly limits.

Releasing August 17th, 2012.

I, for one, am really looking forward to this one. What do you kiddies think? I have always been a big fan of stop-motion, and this looks to be a lot of fun for a kiddie zombie flick.
