Yup. Zombies are officially not scary anymore.
I’m sure that they will continue to serve as a plot device in future stories, but the undead are officially no longer the feared creatures they once were. Just as modern mainstream books and films have de-fanged the vampires and pulled the claws from the paws of the werewolves, zombies have finally met their demise.
Behold the Romantic Zombie Comedy sub-genre, which started last year with the unwatchable Warm Bodies. Continuing that trend is the new film “Life After Beth”, which actually has a great cast and a pretty funny trailer.

So yeah, it looks like some good goofy fun.
I have to say that Aubrey Plaza is one of the funniest ladies around, and one time I found myself watching a bunch of her interviews on youtube and laughing hysterically. So, between her and John C. Reilly (and Paul Reiser!) I can honestly say that I will give this one a chance.
Consider this interview below where Ms. Plaza says she just “did a lot of drugs” to get into zombie character.
Maybe I am just partial to the notion of falling in love with a zombie, considering I wrote my own considerably less romantic “zombie love” story last year.
You can read Zombie Gang-Bangers From Utah by clicking the link, if you are into that sort of thing, but don’t expect to fall in love.
Otherwise, feel free to check out “Life After Beth” on Facebook and in theaters this August.
Let’s give this one a chance!
