First there is the pending release of the sequel to the novel, Dr. Sleep, and then talks of a prequel to the classic film, and now we have a new documentary about perceived hidden meanings in Kubrick’s original 1980 film, The Shining.
Directed by Rodney Ascher, the film includes footage from The Shining, and other Kubrick films, along with discussions by a number of Kubrick enthusiasts. The film includes nine segments, with each segment focusing on different elements within the film which “may reveal hidden clues and hint at at a bigger thematic oeuvre.”
Here is a look at the first teaser trailer for the film, although it is mainly just quotes telling us how great the film is…
Man, they have some cool posters for this film,
but could really use a better trailer, in my opinion.
If the film-makers were smart, they would learn from the master, Mr. Kubrick himself, and give us a mind-blowing trailer like this rare alternate trailer for The Shining from 1980.
Still, it seems like an interesting film, and there are many theories and mysteries explored in The Shining that beg to be dissected.
The film, Room 237, opens December 26th, 2012.
